Engagement and impact

Engagement means connecting with people who care about or are affected by your research. From sharing information to co-producing the research, at every level, working with others and introducing your work beyond universities can make real-world changes: it can have impact.

Equity and diversity in teams

Inclusive teams bring together people with diverse backgrounds and experiences, who strive to work across international borders and disciplines. Cultivating an environment where everyone contributes, feels supported and is valued can bring new perspectives to complex problems.

Strategic risk mapping

Identifying risks involves imagining worst case scenarios. What are the blind spots in your project and what unexpected challenges might you face? Identifying, prioritising and planning for these risks can increase the chances of your project’s successful completion.

Environmental sustainability

The research community is responsible for setting societal precedents. It's important that you and your team consider how your research may harm the natural environment and find ways to reduce or prevent those harms.

Reflecting and learning

Regularly making time to monitor, evaluate and revise your research project helps you to stay focussed and improve your final outcomes. It also produces valuable lessons for your team and the wider research community.
