Engagement and impact

Case Study: The Bettering Care Research Team

The Bettering Care research team wanted to shape their research questions with carers to ensure that they were asking questions that would lead to real change. Acknowledging the sensitivity of the subject and the potential for emotional responses, the team decided to run an initial workshop with a series of activities taken from the Emotions in Engagement Toolkit. These creative methods helped to establish a rapport between the carers themselves and the research team, and gave carers the opportunity to express their personal experiences in different ways. These experiences enriched the shape of the research project and gave carers a space in which they felt they were heard.
