Case Study: Impact - Planning for Outcomes?
On a research project exploring the history of institutional archives, team members wanted to involve some archivists and local librarians. To identify appropriate individuals and organisations they drew out a stakeholder map before applying for funding. This meant the team had time to contact York Library and the Railway Museum Archives to gauge their interest in the project and invite them to participate. By applying for funding together with these organisations, the project was able to expand its offer of public talks, interactive workshops and freely accessible resources and bring in extra financial resources for the library and archives. Due to the success of the public engagement aspect of the project, developed through early contact between researchers and external individuals, the whole team has been able to develop a longer term partnership that involves events beyond the scope of the project.
