Case Study: Bridging International Barriers through Shared Reflection

As an international partnership project between the Universities of York and Mahidol, the Exploring Novel Approaches to Molecular Research international project team built in regular reflection meetings to address some of the challenges of working on different continents with few opportunities to meet in person. They designed online quarterly half-day reflection meetings to review the project progress and share challenges and insights from team members. Meetings have to be scheduled carefully to accommodate for the time difference, and each is led by a different team member, alternating between the two universities. The team built in the costs for an external facilitator for some of these meetings into their grant application, citing the financial and environmental impact savings from making these meetings online.
